Lucia’s Table is a dinner church that meet's at Farm’s Reach in Chimacum, WA on the Olympic Peninsula. We will begin gathering on the first Monday night of each month in June. We hope to build community with each other over a meal as we share our stories, and have conversation about how our stories intersect with God’s stories. We meet much like the very beginning of the church, in ancient times, they met in small groups to “break bread,” for sharing stories about Jesus, to pray and care for one another and to share all things in common.
Many religions combine faith and food, and church dinners have an extensive tradition in American history, but Dinner Church? It might feel a little different but for centuries Christians gathered to share a meal. There was definitely prayer over bread, prayer over a cup. We’re picking up a very early tradition, not reinventing it, but maybe reinterpreting it for 21st century context. Anyone looking for a traditional brick and mortar church has plenty of options to pick from. Lucia's Table is for everyone else, especially those who may not feel comfortable or interested in a traditional church setting.
Lucia's Table is here for people of every age and size, color and culture, every sexual orientation and gender identity, socio- economic status, marital status, ability and challenge. This is a place where questions and doubts are welcome. We pledge to ourselves and to all others that we will strive to live as a reconciling people, in our life together and in our outreach to the world.
